Got A New Water Pump On The 784

Yesterday I went into town and ordered some mineral for the cows. At the farm I took the loader off the 784 and then cleaned up the shop a little. I pulled the tractor into the shop and took the heavy piece of metal that the loader rests on on the tractor off. I then took the side panels and hood off. Later after dad got home we headed over to Lake Odessa to watch an auction. It was my first time going to a livestock auction, so I found it pretty cool how everything was done. Everything there was pretty old which was cool; the beams were whole trees.

Today I worked on pasture fence. I went around and pounded in the staples and nails on the fence posts that hold the electric and barbed wire up. I took down a portion of the old fence where the high tensile wire had broke, so now it just sagged and was doing no good. Later I went back to the woods and checked conibear traps and along the way I picked up a few wood fence posts from the neighbors property. They had a horse pasture at one time and they ended up pulling the posts. I walked through the field across from our house and filled in woodchuck holes. I had gone a month ago and just filled in the most likely to be active ones, so this time I filled in every hole and smoothed out the huge mounds of dirt so there was no more bumps. There was over 70 holes in that field that I filled, and I think I missed some. I walked up to the farm and dad was working on the 784. He had unbolted the radiator and moved it forward and took the fan shroud off along with the fan and belt. He took the water pump off the front of the motor and replaced it with a new gasket and pump.

I went into the barn and bedded the cows. I had to open up another round bale of straw for them, so that leaves me with one unopened round bale which is good, because we want the barn empty so we have more room and can fill it up. I fed the cows some bales of hay and then fed Margie her grain. I came back to the shop and helped dad put the hood back on the 784 and then I bolted down the hood and loader piece. I put away the tools and then came home. Mom had pruned the pear trees and Mel and Paige were taking care of the branches. Later I came back up to the farm to redo something I did on the 784. I then hooked the 584 to the sap wagon and brought it up to the house where I began to fill it. I put 27 pieces of wood on the fire tonight and then brought the water up to the farm and filled the water tanks. I fed the cows some more hay and then came home for the night. Dad and my sisters picked up sticks down in the field from when we dragged trees.
